Stop making the whole page of a chordified song a link.
When viewing a chordified song the whole area of the page outside of the chord display and player links to something else: Trying to switch back to the browser window from something over the top by clicking in the window causes a new browser tab/window to open. You wouldn't believe how annoying this is. Additionaly you can't actually see where the ad-link on the page is going to go, it'd be much better to have ad-boxes/banners so a user could see where the link goes and choose to click it or not for themselves rather than relying on accidental click thrus.
We’re sorry, but we use whole background advertising, and the backgrounds need to be links.
https://www.wetransfer.com/ uses it.
We're sorry that this causes an inconvenience to you, but it's part of the limitations of a free service. I'm sure you'll get used to not clicking the background after a while. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to disable advertisement in the near future, so please stay tuned!
My point was that it's not actually advertising if you can't see where the link goes, it's just click-jacking my attempt to switch back to the browser window. If I could see what the advert was about/for I could make a judgement of whether it was of interest to me or not. Some of the links I've accidentaly clicked thru to have been interesting, others not. Even if they were all of interest I would not want to repeatedly click-thru by accident every time I try to switch application windows!!!!!!
I have never seen 'whole background advertising' ever before ( perhaps I've been protected) but this does seriously limit my enthusiasm for using the site at all, I'll only use it as an absolutely last resort because I know of the frustration that will ensue If I use it.
