  1. Detect and show bass note

It would be very useful to know the bass note that is played with a chord. E.g. C chord played with E as bass note, commonly notated as C/E.

We agree, the bass note (or chord inversion as it is also sometimes called) is very useful information. After some investigation, it appears this would be a very large undertaking. We have however been working on this and we hope to implement this soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks for this suggestion. It is indeed a useful idea, but difficult to combine with the remainder of the technology on our site. We rely on automatic transcription of the chords from youtube or other audio, but it is not yet possible to automatically transcribe lyrics. If we want to show lyrics, we should get them from some other source. Hence, I do not think we will support lyrics in the near future. However, youtube features a lot of songs with lyrics. If you chordify these you have your synchronised lyrcis on the side.

    -Update-
We are actively looking into ways of incorporating lyrics to our player. More info on this soon!

    -Update- 22/02/2018
Unfortunately we are still working out the legalities around displaying lyrics on our website, as lyrics are copyrighted content. We hope to eventually be able to offer lyrics to our users, but it’s unclear…

  3. Chordify Premium is too expensive; the prices should be lower/cheaper

I am willing to pay but prices for plan are horrible. Besides there are many more apps that allow you to do the same thing and there are many others that will be available to users for free.

  4. Ability to pick out individual notes.

There's alot of instances in most songs where they play riffs that aren't chords. If the program had the ability to tell you what individual notes are played I think that would be extremely useful.

Not asking for it to be tabbed out for me, just what notes are used

    Maybe something like

[Bm Chord] then little notes like BCAD#AGb come after it showing the notes used

  5. Allow users to better organize their personal favorites with user created folders.

Since I have already added so many 'favorites' to my personal Chordify library, it would be great if users could better sort and organize their own personal libraries with custom, user created folders that could be sorted in various ways for quicker access. Additionally it would be very convenient if the personal favorite 'Chordified' songs could be saved in the users chosen transcribed key by default.

Thank you for the unique and great website! I am new to the Chordify website and think it is incredible! I am looking forward to seeing many of the great user submitted suggestions implemented…

  7. Integrate with Spotify

I have all of my music in Spotify and don't want to upload or find youtube links.

Spotify has an api that lets you search and play their songs if you could make an app in the spotify store that uses your chordify technology that would be great!

In response to Mic’s question, we would love to integrate with more streaming services, but this requires a lot of negotiation with the streaming platforms. This is time consuming or might even result in a no-go. That’s why the issue is still marked as under review.

  8. Allow users to define sections (intro, verse, channel, chorus, bridge)

Most songs have a form, why not allow users to tag the grey bar a different color to designate a different section of the song?

If it worked out, you could chain the chord display to the form; instead of a straight 16 bars across, it could change based on section?

Regardless, love what you guys are doing. Grew up playing by ear, so I'm enjoying the changes ya'll calling out. much better than most. Keep on keepin on!

  9. Five string banjo diagrams

It would AWESOME to have the option to turn the diagrams into 5 string banjo diagrams.

Cheers! Great app by the way!

  10. display the confidence in each chord estimation (eg with a color scale), whenever possible

This way it is easy to avoid playing the most inconsistent ones

  11. Support for Bandcamp links

Most of the songs I can't find chord charts for from the usual online repositories for them are from lesser known artists whose music is on Bandcamp. Occasionally I can find a youtube link, but more often I have to upload the song (if I have it locally). Support for song links from Bandcamp would be absolutely wonderful.

Thanks, this is a really great idea. We are currently working on having the lyrics transcribed too, but it is a difficult task and could be a while in the making so this could be a great way of stopping the gaps meanwhile. It will also however take time to implement, so in the meantime, have you tried streaming a vidoe with the lyrics on the video? This will enable you to sing along as you play.

  13. I would like to be able to use chordify without its dependency on the Internet.

I would like to have Chordify as a standalone program that runs internet free... for example, I have music on my desktop, it should allow me the option of having chordify search a folder on my computer and run it without the Internet. Saves on data

  14. show mandolin closed position (a.k.a. chop) chords

The mandolin is the snare drum of stringed instruments and should definitely not be left out from Chordify

    Hello,
Thanks for your idea. We have no immediate plans to implement this – you are the first person to suggest it! But we do listen to our users, so we will be keeping an eye on the votes, so if lots of people vote for this, it could be come our next new feature!

  15. Make it so any user can manually set the tempo/beat, not just change the speed.

I see that you have a premium feature for changing the tempo. You should also include an option to manually set the beat for the whole song. I was just listening to a live song on chordify and it gets the tempo right at certain points and wrong at others. Let users tap the beat (mouse click or space bar) for the whole song so that it can be very accurate even if tempo changes in the song.

  16. Intro to Song

I think someone may already have suggested this but could we have a one bar 'click track' intro to the song? The space bar "on off" is very useful but no one is that quick off the draw.

  17. Provide ability to sort songs in 'My Library', especially alphabetically

I've got lots of songs in my library. I need the ability to sort them alphabetically, rather than constant scrolling to find them, very inefficient.

  19. Show chords for mandolin and violin (they are the same tuning, so let's consolidate our votes!)

Mandolin and violin both are tuned G-D-A-E so you would make a lot of people happy by adding Mandolin chords. You also could design this to make it easy add Viola, Cello, Bass, and Banjo in addition to Violin and Mandolin and other stringed instruments and tunings if you wrote your software to diagram chords relative to an open string. You would own this very large and underserved market if you generalize your approach.

  20. Support for different and changing time signatures

A lot of the music I listen to contains time signatures other than 3/4 and 4/4, such as 5/4 or 7/8. It also contains changes of time signatures in a single piece. I understand this would be near impossible to implement automatically, but I think it would be a good idea to add the capability to edit the time signature and change it over the course of the song. Good luck!
